How LIFERS works
LIFERS (Local Information for Environmental Reporting System) is a community-based environmental reporting platform that connects Oakland residents with the agencies and partners responsible for addressing local environmental problems. Whether you’re at home, at work, at school, or out in your neighborhood, LIFERS is here for you and your community to report, document, and track solutions to environmental concerns.
With LIFERS, Oakland has its own watchdog — making sure violations are seen, voices are heard, and action is taken.

Oakland deserves clean air, safe streets, and healthy neighborhoods. LIFERS is a community-powered reporting system that puts the tools for change in your hands. When you see an environmental problem in your neighborhood, you can document it here — building local information that leads to accountability and solutions.
What are environmental issues?
Environmental issues are problems in our surroundings that affect the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we live on, and ultimately, our health and safety. They can include illegal dumping, air pollution from trucks and industry, contaminated soil, poor water quality, or noise and light pollution in our neighborhoods. But these problems don’t happen in isolation.
