Legacy House

A Place Where Restoration Becomes Reality

The Legacy House Resilience Hub is Lifers Leaving a Legacy's vision for a stronger, healthier, and more connected Oakland.

Created to address some of the challenges facing our communities, the Legacy House is designed to provide a safe, supportive environment where residents can access resources, build skills, strengthen relationships, and pursue new opportunities.

The Hub brings together workforce development, environmental education, digital inclusion, community support services, and personal development under one roof.

At its core, the Legacy House is about helping people build stability, confidence, and pathways toward long-term success.

Why Legacy House Matters

Communities thrive when people have access to opportunity, support, and connection.

Many residents face barriers that impact their ability to achieve their goals, including housing instability, reentry challenges, limited access to technology, workforce barriers, social isolation, and lack of access to supportive services.

What We Do

The Legacy House serves as a community-centered resource hub focused on helping residents build stronger futures.

Workforce Development

Connect residents to training opportunities, certifications, career exploration, workforce readiness resources, and employment pathways.

Stability & Reentry Support

Providing transitional housing, supportive services, virtual court access, resource navigation, and opportunities for Returning Family Members to successfully reintegrate into the community.

Environmental Education

Provide opportunities for residents to learn about air quality, environmental health, community science, sustainability, and neighborhood stewardship.

Digital Literacy & Technology Access

Support residents with digital skills development, computer literacy, online navigation, and emerging technology education.

Artificial Intelligence Readiness

Help residents understand and leverage AI tools to improve productivity, career readiness, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning.

Community Engagement

Create opportunities for residents to participate in workshops, events, volunteer activities, community conversations, and leadership development.

Resource Navigation

Connect residents to partner organizations, supportive services, educational opportunities, and community-based resources.

A Hub for Learning & Growth

The Legacy House is designed to be more than a facility—it is a place where people can continue developing skills, building relationships, and creating opportunities.

Programs and activities may include:

  • Workforce training workshops

  • Environmental awareness sessions

  • Community science activities

  • Digital literacy classes

  • AI learning opportunities

  • Financial literacy workshops

  • Entrepreneurship education

  • Community meetings

  • Youth engagement activities

  • Volunteer opportunities

The goal is simple: help residents gain knowledge, build confidence, and create pathways toward success.

Community Partnerships

The success of the Legacy House depends on collaboration.

Lifers works alongside community organizations, educational institutions, workforce partners, businesses, public agencies, and residents to expand opportunities and strengthen community impact.

Together, we are building a resource that belongs to the community and serves the community.

Supporting Oakland's Future

The Legacy House supports many of Lifers' broader initiatives by providing a space where residents can learn about environmental issues, participate in workforce development opportunities, engage with community science projects, and connect with resources that improve quality of life.

Whether someone is seeking career advancement, digital skills, environmental education, community connection, or personal growth, the Legacy House is designed to help meet them where they are and support where they want to go.
