The Legacy House — A Resilience Hub

Opening Soon in Oakland

The Legacy House is a community-rooted Resilience Hub led by Lifers Leaving a Legacy, in partnership with Performing Solutions (WE Oakland) and Lulu’s House.
Together, we are building a safe, empowering environment that provides housing, vocational and digital training, AI education, mentorship, and nourishment for Youth, Returning Family Members (Re-entry), and Unhoused Residents of Oakland — while modeling what environmental, technological, and social justice look like in action.

Our Mission

To empower Oakland residents—especially those returning home from incarceration, unhoused individuals, and youth in transition—through access to housing, education, digital tools, and sustainable work, while creating a hub of healing, growth, and opportunity rooted in equity and accountability.

Our Coalition

Lifers Leaving a Legacy

Project lead and convener. Coordinates operations, recruitment, and community engagement. Provides life skills, green workforce development, environmental and social justice education, computer literacy, and AI readiness training for Oakland residents.

Performing Solutions (WE Oakland)

Leads vocational training and job readiness programs, connecting participants to apprenticeships, certifications, and sustainable employment in construction, green infrastructure, maintenance, and technology fields.

Lulu’s House

Serves as the lead facility operator, offering housing, probation support, and substance abuse counseling within a structured, healing environment. Participants can fulfill court or probation requirements while receiving support and skill development on-site.

What We Do

Housing, Probation & Court Support

The Legacy House provides safe transitional housing and serves as a Probation House where residents can attend court dates, check in with probation officers, and meet re-entry obligations in a stable, supervised setting.
Our facility includes private and shared rooms, meeting spaces, and support staff who guide participants through the re-entry process with care and accountability.

Digital Access, AI & Computer Literacy

We are bridging the digital divide with an on-site computer lab where residents and community members can learn essential digital skills — from basic computer use and online literacy to AI tools, workforce applications, and job search training.
Workshops prepare participants for success in an increasingly digital economy, opening doors to tech and green job sectors.

Vocational Training & Green Workforce Development

Hands-on vocational programs in construction, landscaping, building maintenance, renewable energy, and culinary arts.
Through partnerships with local employers and unions, participants gain certifications, apprenticeships, and direct job placements that support Oakland’s transition to a more sustainable future.

Life Skills, Mentorship & Community Care

Participants receive financial literacy, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and life planning training, along with one-on-one mentorship.
Community meals, peer circles, and cultural programs reinforce belonging, leadership, and self-determination.

Our Impact in Oakland

We measure our success by lives rebuilt and communities strengthened.
Initial goals for our pilot center include:

  • 150+ residents supported annually

  • 200+ digital, vocational, and AI certifications each year

  • 80% job placement rate among program graduates

  • 20,000+ meals served yearly to residents and neighbors

  • Expanded probation support and successful re-entry completions

(These goals will evolve as the pilot Legacy House launches and expands.)

Our Values

Equity by Design

We center individuals most impacted by incarceration, homelessness, and digital exclusion, ensuring they are represented in every level of our leadership and programming.

Climate & Tech Resilience

We integrate green practices, computer literacy, and AI education into everyday learning — empowering residents to adapt, innovate, and thrive in the new economy.

Community Wealth & Justice

We’re committed to building pathways to ownership, economic stability, and personal dignity — turning re-entry into renewal for individuals and for Oakland as a whole.
